FAQ

Questions drivers ask.

Does Truckies Rest Log replace my legal records?

No. Truckies Rest Log is a companion to your paper National Work Diary. It is not an NHVR-approved Electronic Work Diary. You must still fill in your National Work Diary (or use an approved electronic system) and keep your legal records as the law requires. Use the app to keep track and plan your breaks, then copy your times into your legal records.

Which work and rest options does it cover?

Standard Hours for solo drivers is free. BFM (Basic Fatigue Management) and two-up driving come with the one-off Lifetime unlock. AFM (Advanced Fatigue Management) isn’t supported, because AFM hours are set by each operator’s own accreditation.

Which states and territories does it work in?

New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT, which use the Heavy Vehicle National Law work and rest rules. Western Australia and the Northern Territory have their own fatigue rules, and support for them is planned for later.

How much does it cost?

It’s free to download and free for Standard Hours. The Lifetime unlock is a one-off A$14.99 in-app purchase through the App Store. There’s no subscription.

Do I need an account? Where is my data kept?

No account is needed. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone. There are no analytics, ads or tracking, and we never see your records. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

How accurate are the countdowns and warnings?

They’re calculated from the times you enter, following the published work and rest rules, and they’re labelled as guidance. The rules have exceptions and details that an app can’t always know about, so check your National Work Diary and the official NHVR guidance if you’re unsure. You’re responsible for complying with the law.

Does it work without phone reception?

Yes. Everything runs on your iPhone, so countdowns and alerts work out bush with no signal.

Can I use it while driving?

Set it up and tap start when you’re safely stopped. Alerts are designed to be glanced at, and haptics are kept quiet while you’re moving, except for safety alerts.

Is this a government app?

No. Truckies Rest Log is made by Opus Novum PTY LTD in Melbourne. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the NHVR or any government agency.
